We don’t know too much about HBO’s new Westworld TV series, aside from the fact that it’s a remake of the 1973 film written and directed by Michael Crichton, and that Jonathan Nolan and wife Lisa Joy Nolan are adapting it for television. But now the network has released a mysterious, creepy, oh-so-brief preview for the series.
To celebrate Westworld officially getting picked up, HBO posted this Vine, which features weird footage with the ominous repeated message of “So our creatures have been misbehaving”:
There seems to be an image of something resembling The Vitruvian Man, as well as the above shot of one person standing over another. We do know that Westworld the movie was about an amusement park filled with robots for your every desire and fantasy (sex, death, and everything in between), and that the robots start malfunctioning.
HBO described the series as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” Hoo boy. They also tweeted this photo, but we have no idea what it means:
Westworld boasts an impressive cast including Anthony Hopkins, James Marsden, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright, and Thandie Newton. In addition to the Nolans, J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot will produce the series, which will air sometime in 2015.
